Layout A Day – 3 Layouts

Here I am, posting more of my February layouts……doing one for each day this month.

The first is an 8-1/2×11 for the Move More Eat Well class at Big Picture Classes with Cathy Z.  I probably should post this one on My Journal blog but at the same time, I want all my February layouts here at Scrap Your Life.

I struggled badly in January with MMEW, so today I made a list of healthy foods that I KNOW I'll eat and went to the grocery store.

The second is a photo of Boss from yesterday "getting his morning suntan".  I used the "Spiced" kit from Cottage Arts.  Fonts are: Arial, CK Alis Hand

And the last, but not least, is Aiden and Caleb going trick-or-treating this past Halloween.  I used my own "Happy Haunting" kit.  Font is Arial Narrow.

2 Layouts – Layout A Day

I've got 2 layouts to share today, bringing me up to 7 layouts for February.  YAY!!  The first is about something I found this morning and the second is a dark, depressing feeling and is art journaling.  I've decided to make my art journaling layouts in 8.5×11 so I can have them printed and put into an album.  The reason I chose this size is so I can begin creating mixed media art journaling pages as well.  So far, I've got about 4 small tubes of paint, gesso, and brushes.  I'm in the market for some of those really cool looking ink sprays too.  I feel my inner artist coming alive!

Now onto my shares.

Layout 1, supplies used: My "Tranquility Mini Kit" and the Date Stamp is from my January collection of "Scrap Twenty Twelve".  I almost forgot too that the photo was taken on my phone and edited in Lightroom.

Layout 2 is my dark depressing art journal page.  But ya know something?  It feels good to get it on paper, letting my feelings out.

Supplies used:  Tangie Baxter's Journey12_papers, Journey12_elements3, Fonts: Ebrima, P22 Allyson, trashed

Layout A Day and Junk Journal

Yay!!  5 days of layouts so far and I'm loving it!  Today's layout is what we had for dinner while watching the Super Bowl.  Congratulations to the New York Giants.  I used my February collection of Scrap Twenty Twelve.

And NOW…………I'm so excited to share this with you.  This is the first thing I've created that wasn't digital in a very long time and I loved getting down and dirty with paper!  I watched a series of videos on You Tube by Tangie Baxter and made my own Junk Journal, although you can see I entitled mine Treasure.  LOL  I've added our Christmas cards from 2011 with a clip and tied ribbons to it.  I'll use this Junk Journal to keep momentos I've collected and probably do some doodling in it as well.  I'm thinking of making more for to-do lists, maybe one for collecting things from magazines, ideas for redecorating, etc.  You could use one of these fun projects for just about anything.

I started out with a 97 cent composition notebook from WalMart along with a couple ink pads that were 97 cents apiece.  I had TONS of leftover scrapbook paper from days of old (finally found a use for them now that I'm digital), and I've got a small clear tote FULL of all kinds of ribbon.  I've got leftover stickers, metal embellishments, just all kinds of things that I've had packed away and I'm thrilled to be getting it out again and putting it to use.  You just simply HAVE to make one of these.

Okay, to get on with it, here's my Junk Journal.  The cover is actually covered with tape, just like shipping tape but decorated.  I found it at WalMart for $1.50.

You can see in this second photo how some of the pages are wrinkled and crinkled.  That's part of the fun and makes it a FAT Junk Journal!  Some of the pages are crinkled and some are covered with your stash of scrapbook paper to help make the journal more sturdy.

You can see in this third photo where I crinkled the paper on the left and covered the paper on the right with scrapbook paper and I've clipped our Christmas cards to the page.

Now you can see how I've used an ink pad to ink up the paper by just swiping it back and forth on the paper.  It dries really quickly.  And I've stuck a cute little smiley clippy to the other page.

In this next photo, I used a couple really cheap stamps to just randomly stamp onto my already inked pages.  I'll include momentos on the inked pages as well as the paper-covered pages or I may doodle on some of the inked pages.

Watch for yourself how Tangie puts her Junk Journal together.  Enjoy!  If you decide to make one, please come back and leave a comment in this thread so I can see yours too!!

Layout A Day – Ice and Art

I've got 2 layouts to share today to cover the 3rd and 4th.  I actually didn't get a layout done yesterday but made up for it today.  That should still count, right?

The first was actually a surprise.  I didn't have a clue it was supposed to snow today but when I saw it, I decided to take the camera outside and capture some of it and then I got another surprise as there were buds on the Lilac tree being covered with ice and snow.  Boooooo!  Now don't forget, I love the snow but I love my Lilacs too.  I'm sure they'll revive…..that's nature.

I used my "Rose Quartz" kit on the "Ice" layout.  Fonts are: Ma Sexy and Arial Narrow.

I'm taking a journey into Digital Art Journaling and I believe it's going to be something I adore!!  I used Tangie Baxter's papers and elements on this one: AJC12_parcel05, AJC11_parcel35, journey12_elements3 and the font is: Palatino Linotype

Layout-a-Day

I couldn't quite swing the extra bucks to participate in Lain's Layout A Day this month but I've participated before and it's such a wonderful way to get layouts completed.  So I decided to commit on my own to creating a layout every day this month.  I don't have the prompts to follow but I do have folders full of precious photos that need scrapped.

Today I'm sharing the layout I did on the 1st and today's layout as well.

I just thought this zip list app was THE coolest thing!  I leaned my own phone up against the monitor to take the photo.  I used Kim Broedelet's "Rejuvination" kit and Font is VT Portable R.

These are photos from May of 2011 that needed scrapped.  Credits:Katie Pertiet – Letter Box Simplicity Paper No. 1, Splatters 2
Lynn Grieveson – Hint-at-it 5 brushes
Fonts: Amienne and Arial

Guest Designer – February 2012

Here we are beginning February already!  You're in for another treat this month as Teri Hanson, aka DigiZines by Teri, owner and designer at DigiZines Studio is in the spotlight!  If you've ever used Teri's products, you already know how beautiful they are and how very versatile.  She's best known for her vintage/heritage style and I personally don't know anyone that can match her designs.  If you've never purchased or used Teri's designs, you're going to get a chance to try one for FREE this month.

She's created a beautiful Quick Page as a gift to you, but FIRST, we're going to learn a little about Teri and her personality through some FUN questions we came up with for our guest designers that will make this entire interview much more interesting than the same old question and answer session.  So let's get to it and then I'll preview the Quick Page for you and an Add On to it that Teri has in the store!

1. If you could have a personal chef for a day, what would you have them make for you?

Teri: First, could I have the Chef for the rest of my life???? LOL. Hmmmm well I adore Italian food so I guess it would have to be some sort of pasta alfredo dish with shrimp and garlic in it. Ohhh my, think I hear Olive Garden calling my name.

2. If your pet could talk, what single question would you ask it and why?

Teri: Our baby Annie is about 9 years old now and when she sleeps she still makes those noises, like all puppies do, the whine and her legs and tail twitches, and she growls and barks lol. Sometimes she is sooooo loud we have to yell at her and wake her up. Sooooo, my question would be . . . “What on earth are you dreaming about when you sleep”.

3. Have you ever cried at the movie theater and if so, what was the movie and why?

Teri:  Oh yes, I’m a HUGE cry baby when it comes to movies. It would have to be the movie Titanic and the scene when they showed the dead woman in the water holding her baby in her arms. I do believe you could have heard a pin drop in the theater, if you could get past my blubbering.

4. What are your favorite pjs?

Teri:  I LOVE working in my PJ’s lol. My favorite . . . this old flannel long sleeve shirt of hubbies and a pair of plaid flannel drawstring pants, like the Joe Boxer ones.

5. What is in your purse right now?

Teri: My purse: wallet, keys, several pens, compact brush, lip gloss, mints, cough drops, misc receipts and small papers, lotion, hand sanitizer, nail file, tons of loose change, hair clips, eye glass cleaner cloth, sunglasses, nook simple touch ereader, ipod, two pair of reader glasses in cases, tissues, and yes . . . I tend to lean to whatever side my purse is on when I carry it LOL.

6. What is the most annoying thing that your husband/fiance/other half does that absolutely drives you crazy?

Teri: Ohhh he NEVER brings his readers with him when we go out to eat and has to borrow mine to read the menu. I bought an extra pair that were very “girly” and gave those to him to use once, thinking he would be embarrassed to wear them and remember to bring his own. Nope, didn’t work . . . he just wears the girly ones . . . leopard with rhinestones LOL.

7. If you crank up the music and rock out when nobody is looking, what song would be playing?

Teri: Easy . . . “Something’s Got A Hold On Me” by Christina Agulara from the movie Burlesque. Or anything by her . . . just LOVE her voice!

8. What color of M&Ms do you pick out of the bag to eat first?

Teri:  I always eat the lime green M&M’s first. Hubby went to Vegas this year and brought me back a huge bag of green and HOT Pink M&M’s.

9. If you were a stick of candy, what flavor would you be and why?

Teri: I would be a Root Beer stick of candy because it’s got this warm nice flavor but full of spice!

10. When you place a roll of toilet paper on the holder, do you place it so it pulls over the top? Or underneath?

Teri: The toilet paper definitely pulls from the top.

This is so much fun for me every month as I get to learn a bit more about these crazy designers too!  Great interview Teri and I hope everyone enjoyed our special rendition of question and answer.

Now onto the previews and your gift for February from the talented Teri Hanson.

Teri has created a special Add On to her Sugar Kissed Collection.  The Add On is available for purchase at DigiZines Studio HERE.

And here is the GORGEOUS Quick Page she has created as a FREE gift for all my readers!  Thank you Teri!  You can download the Quick Page in the right hand sidebar under "Downloads" until the end of February.

March's Guest Designer will be the talented Laura Burger, so be sure to check back for a sneak peak of what she'll have in store for you and we'll have another FUN interview with Laura.

And remember, this IS the first and the "My Life…..Before I Was Your Mother" journey #3 has been posted!!

Surgery for Boss – Layout Share

I wanted to scrap this page about Boss while the entire memory was still fresh in my mind.  Boss had this tumor for quite some time and our original vet has always said that Boss had a heart murmur and wouldn't do surgery.  Recently, Boo has been licking it and causing it to begin breaking down and seeping.  We knew at this point that something HAD to be done.  We took Boss to a different veterinary clinic to get a second opinion on his heart murmur.  The surgeon listend for quite some time and stated that she didn't hear one.  Blood work was done and Boss was scheduled for surgery to remove the tumor.

I was terrified the day of surgery and waited beside the phone to hear news.  When they called and told me that he made it through surgery perfectly fine, I was so relieved and thrilled at the same time.

Now we have Boss home and he's on the road to recovery and doing well.

I used my Scrap Twenty Twelve scrapkit – January collection, which I'd like to remind everyone is on sale until February 1st, at which time it will go to full price.

Genealogy Update and Inspiration

Before I get to the meat of this post, I'd like to remind everyone that I've been reorganizing here at Scrap Your Life.  I've moved my creative endeavors over to my new Scrap Your Life/My Journal blog.  You can follow there what I'm doing with some classes I'm taking online to expand my creativity and well……….just plain having a ton of fun in everything I'm involved in.  So I hope you'll visit My Journal blog and see all that I'm doing over there.

Now, on with the Genealogy Update.  I worked on my Genealogy page this morning and have added ALOT of information that I think will be of great interest to those of you who are searching your lineage.  I'll continue to update that page as I find new sites to help us find our elusive ancestors!

A couple of the gals on the Creative Team at DigiZines Studio have created these layouts for your inspiration.  I hope seeing their beautiful layouts will inspire you to jump in the "My Life……Before I Was Your Mother" class and scrap your heritage with us.

First up is this gorgeous layout by Elaine using Teri Hanson's "Legacy Collection" kits at DigiZines Studio.

Layout by Elaine at DigiZines Studio

Next is this lovely layout by Diane. She used Teri's "Storytellers" series also at DigiZines Studio.  Aren't the photographs in these layouts absolutely wonderful!!  What a treasure to have!

Layout by Diane at DigiZines

A job well done by these ladies and I thank them so much for creating these gorgeous layouts for me to share here at Scrap Your Life!  They're truly amazing!

As I said, I hope you'll be inspired to scrap your own heritage layouts and join in the "My Life" class right here at Scrap Your Life.  Journey #3 is coming in February!!

I'd like to also mention that tomorrow, when the newsletter comes out for E-scapeandScrap (better known to some as The Nifty Boutique), I'll have a free Quickpage in there for Tuesday Treat using my Scrap Twenty Twelve January collection.  Pop on over to The Nifty Boutique and get signed up for Julie's newsletter if you haven't done so already!

Here's a preview of the Quick Page I'll have in the newsletter.

Update and Saturday Post

I was so excited when the postman arrived today.  He brought my Heritage Makers Album about Boo and Boss!!  The one I wrote the "Sharing Life with a Furbaby" e-book about.  I'd like to show it to you today.

About Boo and Boss

It's hard to see it in the photo but the front is actually just a little grungy in the upper righthand corner with faded text.  I'm so very pleased with the way it turned out.  If you've decided you'd like to do an album about your own furbabies, the e-book is available right here in the Store.   Also, if you'd like to take a peak around Heritage Makers, you can do so HERE.  Go ahead and sign up for a free account and take a look at all the templates and artwork that's available to you to complete your albums.

I've spent the entire day editing photos from 2011 and have decided to print all the ones from March to the end of the year and finish my 2011 project life.  As I was going through all the photos, I found that I DO remember the stories.  I purchased prints from Shutterfly quite awhile back and need to use those credits up, so what better way to get 200 photos printed?!  I used the Becky Higgins Project Life kit last year and what a shame not to finish it up.  I'll share some of the pages when I get it completed.

I hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend!  Have you been scrapbooking?

Until next time…..
